In many African countries, agri-food and energy systems currently operate in silos. Current agricultural and food systems struggle to balance productivity with inclusivity and ecological sustainability.
Egerton University’s CELIB is partnering with SNV Kenya to implement the €45 million Power for Food Partnership (PFP) funded by the IKEA Foundation. CoELIB brings in technical expertise in scaling participatory action research, knowledge co-creation, and living labs that enable farmers and stakeholders to experiment, learn, and share regenerative agriculture (RA) and productive use of renewable energy (PURE) solutions in local contexts (Nakuru, Kericho, Nandi, Kakamega, Bungoma, Busia, and Uasin Gishu counties).
The project brings together research institutions, civil society organisations, development agencies, and community-based actors to identify, document, and scale transformative practices that strengthen RA-PURE interventions for farmer resilience, enhance livelihoods, and sustainable food production.
PFP will also encourage private sector involvement and promote sustainable agricultural initiatives that improve food security and livelihoods while fostering environmental resilience among smallholder farmers. Read more
