CoELIB has officially kicked off the establishment of mother trials for Regenerative Agriculture and Productive Use of Renewable Energy (RA-PURE) under the Power for Food Partnership in Bumula Ward, Bungoma County.

Working closely with the Lunao Wajane Farmer Field School (FFS) in Kware B Village, the team completed the land layout for the mother trial site, carefully subdividing it into 18 experimental plots measuring 4m × 3m. Soil sampling was also undertaken to establish baseline soil health data that will guide the evaluation of regenerative agriculture practices and solar-powered irrigation interventions.

These demonstration trials are more than research plots—they are learning hubs where farmers, extension officers and researchers will co-create, test and validate practical solutions that improve soil health, increase water-use efficiency and strengthen resilience to climate change. Through the Farmer Field School approach, the knowledge generated will be shared directly with farming communities, accelerating the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices.

By integrating solar-powered irrigation with regenerative agriculture, the RA-PURE initiative is helping unlock pathways to higher productivity, reduced production costs and more resilient food systems—empowering farmers to produce more while conserving the natural resources they depend on.
