CoELIB Advances Evidence-Led Solutions at Kenya’s Regenerative Agriculture Dialogue

This week, the Power for Food Partnership Kenya convened the Kenya National Policy Dialogue on Integrating Regenerative Agriculture and the Productive Use of Renewable Energy (RA-PURE).

The dialogue marked the first in a series of dialogues that will also be convened in Uganda, Rwanda and Ethiopia. Insights from the national dialogues will be synthesised into regional recommendations to inform high-level platforms including the Africa Food Systems Forum, the World Food Forum and CoP32 in Ethiopia.

As the coordinating partner, SNV will continue to convene diverse stakeholders to strengthen collaboration between the agriculture, energy, climate, water and finance sectors.

The dialogue showed that Kenya has a strong policy foundation in agriculture, renewable energy and climate resilience.

Among the key priority actions identified were:

1.Strengthen cross-sector coordination and governance by establishing or reinforcing government-led coordination mechanisms that bring together agriculture, energy, climate, water, planning and finance institutions to jointly plan, budget and implement RA-PURE interventions.

2.Build policy coherence and unlock investment by integrating RA-PURE into national and county policies, strategies and budgets, while developing blended finance mechanisms, demand aggregation models and investment pipelines that attract both public and private capital.

3.Accelerate adoption of RA-PURE solutions by farmers and agri-enterprises through strengthened extension services, demonstration and learning sites, access to affordable finance, and opportunities to test and validate technologies that improve productivity, resilience, value addition and rural livelihoods.

4.Strengthen evidence generation and learning by documenting successful RA-PURE models, consolidating lessons from ongoing initiatives, and translating these into policy briefs and knowledge products that support evidence-based decision-making and contribute to regional and global policy processes.

The outcomes of the dialogue reaffirmed the importance of collaborative, evidence-driven policymaking in accelerating the scale-up of RA-PURE solutions and advancing resilient, inclusive, and sustainable food systems across Kenya and the region.

Together, let us strengthen partnerships, champion enabling policies, and invest in innovative RA-PURE solutions that empower farmers, enhance food security, and build climate resilience for generations to come.
