CoELIB has expanded the production of knowledge relevant to the growth and productivity of business ventures. The centre develops knowledge derived from research and contributes to its application to address the most pressing problems in society. Under this pillar, actions include the following:

Research Grant Fund Administration

CoELIB is establishing a research grant to raise funds for supporting research projects by Egerton University researchers and scientists in priority research areas relevant to the business ecosystem. CoELIB focuses on formulating research proposals to attract partners, financial resources and additional human capacity to develop its research management and knowledge production capacity. In addition, the centre is establishing the operational systems to manage large and small collaborative research projects, including research proposal development, project administration, tracking deliverables and reporting, financial management and budget control.

Contract Research

CoELIB’s contract research activities aim to promote innovative solutions across all African sectors. CoELIB works closely with organizations, researchers and scientists to identify research opportunities that align with the centre’s strategic objectives. The centre also assists researchers in securing funding for research projects and guides the research process.

CoELIB helps to facilitate collaboration between organizations, researchers and other relevant stakeholders, including the private sector, NGOs and government agencies. This collaboration ensures that research projects are tailored to the specific needs of the relevant industry and applicable to the industry.

CoELIB also manages the administration of research projects by monitoring progress, ensuring that milestones are met, and managing budgets. The centre provides researchers access to state-of-the-art facilities, equipment, technical support, and guidance.

Commercialization of Technology and Product Innovations

CoELIB offers comprehensive services to support technology, product, and business development from concepts to commercialization. This involves assisting entrepreneurs in identifying opportunities, generating ideas, conducting feasibility and viability studies, technical analysis, and developing market entry strategies. Technological transfer is made possible by developing various web and mobile-based solutions. CoELIB regularly conducts workshops and training sessions on technology and product development to ensure entrepreneurs have the knowledge and skills necessary to bring their ideas to fruition.
